Big Lebowski Not Originally a Hit ???

 

The now beloved movie, The Big Lebowski was initially not a box office success, and movie critics all pretty much gave it a thumbs down. However, The Big Lebowski, starring Jeff Bridges as The Dude, along with John Goodman, John Turturro, Steve Buscemi, and the late great Philip Seymour Hoffman, turned out to become the greatest cult movie classic in film history.

Along with movies like: The Godfather, Scarface, The Terminator and other films, millions of fans quote lines from the movie, buy merchandise, and books, attend Big Lebowski Festivals, and drink White Russians. There is even a Big Lebowski Cookbook.

Yes before The Big Lebowski became the widely loved cult classic that it is today, it was a box office disapointment. After the success of the Coen Brothers movie Fargo which was nominated for for 7 Oscars, and won two Academy Awards, one for Best Actress for Francis McDormand, and Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for the Coen Brothers, people were expecting a similar sort of film from the Big Lebowski, which did not receive one Oscar nomination at all. GOT ANY "CHOCOLATE KAHLUA CAKE" ???

CHOCOLATE KAHLUA CAKE RECIPE ...... Abide!

1 box chocolate cake mix (without pudding)
1 box (3.75-ounce) chocolate pudding mix
2 cups sour cream
4 eggs
3/4 cup vegetable oil
1/3 cup Kahlua
1 (6-ounce) package chocolate chips
Kahlua Glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
4 Tablespoons Kahlua
Instructions

Put everything in the bowl except for the chocolate chips.
Mix for a few minutes until it is well combined.
Fold in the chocolate chips. I had a few half empty chocolate chip packages laying around, so I used a mixture of milk and semi-sweet chips.
Put the batter in a greased Bundt pan.
Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 1 hour.
Cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then turn out onto a cooling rack and cool completely.
Start the glaze.
Whisk together the powdered sugar and Kahlua until smooth.
Pour the glaze over the top of the cake.
